Community Education and Tours
In addition to commercial and industrial training programs, the Medicinal Plant Garden focuses on educating the local community and surrounding areas about the safe and effective ways to incorporate medicinal plants into the every day. The garden routinely provides scheduled, guided tours to groups of varying sizes. This is a great way to become familiar with the plants in the living collection and to learn more about their traditional uses.
The medicinal plant garden is committed to providing people of all ages with the knowledge they need to safely use medicinal plants and natural products. The garden has participated in lecture series at the UM Museum and hosted hands-on workshops for participants to make various teas, tinctures and creams from medicinal plants.
We believe the medicinal plant garden can bring together academia and the community to preserve and conserve medicinally important plants.
